electric voice theatre 2021
REVIEW OF THE YEAR!
THANKS TO OUR AMAZING SUPPORTERS!!!!…….
…..in 2021 we created, recorded, recovered, performed and celebrated 55 pieces of music by women composers in collaboration with 200 people across the UK, reaching a direct audience of 1,500, and thousands more through our website pages, podcasts, soundcloud and youtube channel, despite the continuing pandemic. Online performances included events for Leytonstone Historical Society, Yorkshire Fossil Festival, Marine Biological Association, Sidmouth Science Festival and Fungus Day. We created our own Zoom performance “St Columba’s Women” on the 1500th Anniversary of his death and even managed a live outdoor performance for Stroud Green Festival.

THE SINGERS!
It was so enjoyable to work on the St Columba project, particularly after so many months of redundancy due to the Pandemic. The fact that it took place on St Columba’s 1500th anniversary was extra special, and it was thrilling to be singing Gaelic for the first time. Julian Stocker
The magic of Zooms gigs in 2021 has meant that I have been able to quietly infiltrate (virtually) the wonderful world of Electric Voice Theatre from afar! Learning about the suppressed or forgotten voices of Women scientists and composers, and bringing them in such an entertaining way to anyone who cares to join in, has been a real joy! Schools 2021
We have been incredibly lucky to work online with children and teachers from Sidmouth CofE Primary School, with a lot of help from Mike & Jill from Sidmouth Science Festival.
Our work with Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary School in Cumbria has been a revelation and we can’t wait to visit them for real in 2022 – along with the other schools! – the class and teachers were 1st class and we had such amazing help from Cumbria Music Services and many other local people and organisations – particularly the Armitt Museum where the children had a wonderful day out!
We popped in to another Cumbrian School too – Roose Primary – winners of prizes in our Beatrix Potter Fungi Song Competition, and had a great entry from Castle Carrock Primary too!

ELECTRIC VOICE THEATRE 2021
electric voice theatre have continued to produce music by women composers. We are committed to promoting their work as well as that of women scientists and the many unsung women from history whose lives have mysteriously vanished. We are delighted that our efforts were supported, not just by members of the public, attending, participating, watching and listening, but also by many individuals giving of their time, funding bodies and national and local organisations throughout the UK.
