Mary Anning and Doli the Dolichodeirus”
by Kingfishers, Awliscombe CofE Primary School
THE CHILDREN SAID
We loved singing and making our fossil
I loved that we got to make a MEGASONG
When I grow up I want to be a singer and composer
We found out that Mary Anning is a Palaeontologist
I learnt that a coprolite is actually ancient dinosaur poo!!!
I most enjoyed working with different people
We learnt about Belemnite, Ammonite, Coprolite and Trilobite fossils
THE TEACHERS SAID
It has been an extraordinary experience for the children
Good to look at the science in a much more creative way
They have been influenced to write their own music
We’ve had a big take up to music lessons
They felt important and valued to have these experts talking with them
I’m so glad we signed up for this
The zoom sessions really worked (though in-person always better!)
“Mary Anning and Dina the Dimorphodon”
by Beech Class, Payhembury Primary School
“Mary Anning and Jane Dories the Dapedium”
by Kestrel Class, Newton Poppleford Primary School
Each class group (Years 3 – 6)
had 4 Zoom Workshops with our team
Ichthyosaur, Plesiosaur
Pterosaur or Dapedium
Then Jack went to the schools in person
and they had a fantastic session
in small groups
making their 3D fossils
and drawings
to help Jack create the final films
…..while on zoom
they were recording
the final music for their
MEGASONG
with Frances
You can see pictures of their fossil models below
Finally
Frances & Herbie
set to work editing and producing the music
while Jack
put together all the art work for the film
until each class had their
MEGASONG FOR MARY ANNING
which they shared and celebrated
with the rest of their school
parents and friends
Now we are busy creating their pages on
Minerva Scientifica
