A series of vocal workshops will pop-up throughout the year at the beautiful Conway Hall in London.  Each session is built on an exploration of music by women composers past and present and on the singer as a flexible performer with a wide range of transferable skills.

The workshops take place in a supportive environment and are designed to boost each singer’s professional development both as an individual vocalist and a highly skilled ensemble member.

The use of music by composers connected with the ethical traditions of Conway Hall, eg. Eliza Flower (1803 – 1846), Ethel Smyth (1858 – 1944) and Emily Josephine Troup (1853–1913), opens the way to some newly revived and exciting repertoire.  There will be short sections of music for you to memorize in advance, so the earlier you apply the better your experience will be.
If we are able to offer you a place we will ask you to let us know if you would need support with reading music, or have a visual impairment so that we can send the most suitable materials for you.

“The Listening Performer”

The first in the series took place on January 31st 2026

5 young women in a circle facing in to each other with their hands joined above their heads

If there is one skill that often gets overlooked, and yet is fundamental to the quality of singing, whether in an ensemble, choir or as a soloist, it is listening.

We spent the day listening to ourselves and each other with body and breath vocal warm ups and a series of exercises designed to inspire deep aural awareness, increase confidence and expand each singer’s musical world.

We had a lot of fun!

Listen to the Rhythm

Attention to detail is one of the things that creates an exceptionally polished performance, and rhythm is one of those details that can completely change how your performance is perceived by an audience and how you connect to the music as a soloist or within an ensemble.
