BRIXWORTH ONLINE MUSIC FESTIVAL
This is Madeleine Dring (1923 – 1977) a composer, singer and actor, who was born a stone’s throw from electric voice theatre’s base in North London. We have adopted her song “Echoes” (piano & voice) as the opening to our “Echoes” performances which we would normally be doing all over the UK.
We invite you to play the song while you read more about “Echoes” and see what we have in store from now until May 17th
This song might be a bit tricky for you to learn quickly – so we have a little song everyone can sing – luckily entitled “Echoes from Northamptonshire”!

What is “Echoes from Northamptonshire”?
Echoes – Minerva Scientifica has been touring the UK for four years celebrating the histories of the UK’s forgotten female scientists, through the medium of song, music, performance and spoken word. This special programme (NOW ONLINE!) features music by women composers and local connections with flight, from the bats and moths at Pitsford Water to Women Flight Engineers like Northamptonshire’s Lilian Bader – one of the first black women to join the WAAF – and whose family had 3 generations serving in the armed forces. Our researchers have found fascinating women from across the county whose exploits will astonish you and – if you are from Northamptonshire – make you very proud indeed!

Fri May 8th VE DAY
We premiered our first Lockdown Recording of a song by Amanda Ira Aldridge – who taught the singer Paul Robeson who was in turn a favourite singer of Engineer Lilian Bader to whom it is now dedicated.
Today, Sat 9th, we would have been rehearsing together for our performance at BRIXWORTH MUSIC FESTIVAL next week in their beautiful Saxon church. Instead we are rehearsing separately, for the online festival in our living rooms!
Sun 10th Echoes projects are all about women composers so we are delighted to be joining BRIXWORTH MUSIC FESTIVAL for a look back at their annual Competition for Women Composers – that’s after recording some music with our singers in their homes for you to listen to/and sing on Tuesday

Fri 15th We would have been performing at BRIXWORTH MUSIC FESTIVAL today but instead we will PREMIERE A NEW WORK online “Bats, Moths and Bi-planes” which combines the amazing Women’s Meeting at Sywell Aerodrome in 1931 with the wildlife at Pitsford Water Nature Reserve

Sun 17th – for the final day of “Echoes from Northamptonshire” We will look back at the last 10 days and forward to 2021 and the next LIVE BRIXWORTH MUSIC FESTIVAL
We leave you with the foundation of all science and music – Maths. This music was written in 2017 by Frances for the new Winton Mathematics Gallery at the Science Museum London and broadcast by BBC Radio3 during the Proms 2018
