For now here is a taste of Shena Fraser‘s beautiful Sea Lullaby sung by BBC Singer Margaret Cameron with Frances M Lynch on piano. It is a setting of a poem by Eugene Field (with slight word changes to illustrate the story of a Marine Biologist Nora Miller, who like the composer was from Stirling), and was written c. 1973. Our first performance in this slightly altered version took place at The Engine Shed, Stirling, on September 18th 2018 for Historic Environment Scotland
Over at BRIXWORTH ONLINE MUSIC FESTIVAL they are celebrating the winners of their Competition for Women Composers including this year’s winner. The competition’s most illustrious judge is Judith Weir – Master of the Queen’s Music and Patron of Minerva Scientifica
