Misfolding Workshop Fun

  Misfolding Workshop Fun

The Misfolding team is back together again!! We spent a brilliant afternoon with Prof. Louise Serpell, Dr Karen Marshall and new scientist to the team, Sam Atkinson, at the Serpell Lab, School of Life Sciences, Sussex University.
We are busy preparing for a project in the Spring with a primary school nearby who are in for some fun with paper folding, creating music from science, and a lot of singing. See what you can make of the papers we were folding below – well at least trying some things out – an oligomer crown, and a novel way to use a fortune teller…. (click on the pics to enlarge)

Misfolding Workshop January 2025

January 15th Workshop at Sussex University – oligomer crown

What has origami got to do with protein misfolding I hear you ask…all will be revealed! (clue here)

Later in the year we’ll post the recordings and video of the performance so you can hear how the children get on writing their own song about protein misfolding and how it has a role to play in Alzheimer’s disease (it will be fun we promise!).

Huge thanks to Sussex University, Serpell Lab and Alzheimer’s UK South Coast Network for making this all possible.
