IWD 9th March 2026
International Women’s Day (IWD)
This Monday morning brings a stirring march to set you up for the week as we reflect on the myriad of women in STEMM (the extra M is for Medicine) who have been featured in one or another in our Minerva Scientifica projects over the last 9 years.
“The March of the Women of Science” was arranged and adapted by Frances M Lynch & Herbie Clarke for Minerva Scientifica from “The March of the Cameron Men” by Mary Maxwell Campbell (1812-1886), a composer of songs and of music for piano and pipes. We found another song by this enigmatic composer which we adapted to celebrate women in science – as its the 140th anniversary of her death do have a look at her page and listen to the song – it won’t take long, I did say she was elusive.
Below are just some of the scientists you will encounter on Minerva Scientifica – there are many more to add this year – check back tomorrow to find out who they are and what fantastic new projects we are planning for 2026. Meanwhile click the pic below and enjoy the science and music of women from the UK, past and present.
