Episode 13: A Towering Mathematical Poet

You’re too early!!! Check back on 23rd Sept at 12 noon to listen to the 3rd of our October Echoes from Essex Podcasts

Essex is full of enterprising and highly ingenious poets and writers, one of whom, Elelia Ferro, worked on the Snapping the Stiletto project. She discusses Essex Girl stereotyping and poetry with Megan Krempa, a scholar from Canada who is studying the poetry of Elizabeth Tollet (1694-1754), a mathematical Essex poet who was praised for her achievements by Isaac Newton.
A new setting of Tollet poetry for 2 solo voices by Frances M Lynch reflects the discussion alongside the beautiful acapella round “Set me as a Seal Upon Thine Heart” by Imogen Holst.

The series presenter is Frances M Lynch, Artistic Director of electric voice theatre. Part of  electric voice theatre’s Essex 2020 Minerva Scientifica project “Echoes from Essex” in collaboration with Chelmsford Civic Theatre.
